What Inspired me to Create Finding My Sunshine

For years, my story lived inside me — quiet, unspoken, waiting for permission.

I told myself I’d write it when life settled down. When I was healed enough, whole enough, ready enough.

But life didn’t wait.

It gave me diagnoses. Surgeries. Courtrooms. Crisis after crisis. It gave me children I would walk through fire for, and systems that made me prove their worth again and again. It gave me nights I didn’t think I’d survive.

And then, it gave me a moment.

I was unravelled.  Drowning in silence.

And without saying a word, she reached for me.

On her day of celebration  —  Kel reached out and pulled me back to myself.

That one small act — a hand outstretched on a dance floor — cracked something open inside me.

It reminded me I was still here.  Still worthy.  Still needed.

And just like that, the words began to pour out of me.

Not as a campaign speech. Not as a polished pitch.  But as me. Raw. Honest. Human.

That’s how Finding My Sunshine was born.  Not as a platform — but as a lifeline.

Because I know there are others like me.  People walking through quiet hells.  People doing the impossible every day.  People who feel forgotten.

This space is for us.

The ones who keep showing up — even when it hurts.  The ones who laugh through tears.

Who scream into pillows.  Who rebuild lives out of rubble.

If that’s you, this is your space too.  A place where you don’t have to pretend.

Where you don’t have to be “fixed” to be welcome.

Here, we honour the fight.  We share the stories.

We sit beside each other in the dark — And wait for the light to return.

Together, we find our sunshine.

With love and light
